2022 Decor Trends

By Sarah Ramberg

Happy New Year, fellow ReStore shoppers! It’s Sarah of Sadie Seasongoods again, bringing you some New Year Cheer as we look at a few home trends that are running the show in 2022.

Shopping for your home at one of our local Charlotte Region ReStores is ALWAYS on trend, if you ask me. But perhaps especially in 2022, as several of the ongoing and upcoming trends are custom-made for a ReStore shopper like you.

Plants

Plants, Plants, and More Plants

Houseplants have been trending for several years now and they are NOT going away. Whether you have a single potted plant or an entire indoor jungle, the ReStore is a great place to help incorporate them into your home decor.

  • Our furniture departments are filled with future plant stands. Whether it’s a corner curio, an open bookshelf, or an outdated entertainment center that just needs some paint and some plants- there are TONS of display options to choose from.
  • Scope out our housewares section for interesting (or even unorthodox) planters.
  • Have curious pets or zero green thumbs? Look for faux plants and trees at our stores- I see them all the time!
  • And don’t forget the art section- you might just find a botanical print that would add greenery in an unexpected way.

Blending the New with the Old

This trend is less about aesthetic and more situational. Supply chain shortages and shipping delays are causing all sorts of headaches when it comes to transforming a house into a home. But, you don’t have to wait for anything if you shop at the ReStore!

  • We have furniture for every room in your home, in stock and ready for you to take home today.
  • Blending something vintage or retro into contemporary design is easier than you think.
  • Did you discover your creative side over the past couple of years? DIY decor (or upcycled) is trending because of ongoing world events- and our ReStores are FILLED with future projects.

Flaunt Those Curves!

Curved and wavy furniture is a 2021 trend that is continuing into 2022 in a big way! From chairs that hug you, to circular tables, to large round lights- soft, inviting curves are in high demand. So, how can ReStore help?

  • Hunt down those soft lines in our furniture department. From curve-top cabinets to barrel chairs, there are all sorts of rounded lines to be found!
  • Same goes for tables- of the end, side, coffee, and dining variety. Circle and oval tables have that inviting, inclusive feel that is on trend right now.
  • And for your walls, round and oval mirrors or frames are a great way to stand on trend and under budget.

Natural Fibers and Texture

One-dimensional decor, from fabric choices to furniture materials, is SO last year. Whether it’s due to our need to feel cozy at home over the past couple of years, or the trend of bringing nature inside, both texture and natural fibers/materials are trending heavily into the new year. And the Charlotte Region ReStore(s) are here for it!

  • Home store throw pillows are CRAZY pricey. But they are plentiful AND inexpensive at the ReStores; adding fringe or other tactile elements to ReStore pillows will take them over the top!
  • Stone elements in home decor- from tabletops to bookends and vases- is hot, hot, hot. Check out our furniture and housewares departments for your own touches of stone- maybe even make a project with some loose stone tile, too?
  • And what about woven materials, such as baskets and cane or rattan furniture? You KNOW you can find all of those at our ReStores!

Locally Sourced and Sustainable Goods

“Green”, as mentioned previously when I talked about houseplants, is on trend as a concept, as well as tangible decor! But this time, “green” refers to locally sourced or sustainable furnishings. Buying local and secondhand has never been a bigger deal than it is now, which means our ReStores are THE place to hunt for home goods!

  • Energy efficient lightbulbs are a great way to amp up your green- in your home AND your bank account. And our ReStores have plenty of affordable bulbs in stock!
  • Since North Carolina is a hotbed of furniture manufacturing, you’ll find a lot of locally-made goods in our furniture department, especially of the vintage variety. Talk about keeping things local!
  • Upcycling and DIYing your decor is my favorite way to make sure a home is unique and personalized. And, of course, it’s an eco-conscious way to approach home decorating, too.

I hope these ideas inspire you to visit our ReStores for any decorating updates that you have in mind for 2022! And of course, we can’t wait to see what you find. Take a snap and tag us (@cltregionrestore and @sadieseasongoods) with the hashtag #ReStoreDecor2022 !
